Estima key battery low warning

I'm experiencing a 'key battery low' warning on my 2006 Toyota Estima hybrid. Keyless access no longer works, and the error memory shows a key fob issue. Unlocking remotely is also unreliable. Could the key fob battery simply need replacing? Has anyone else faced this?

Summary of the thread

A 'key battery low' warning on a 2006 Toyota Estima hybrid led to issues with keyless access and remote unlocking. The problem was suspected to be a low key fob battery, as similar symptoms were experienced by others. Replacing the key fob battery resolved the issues, confirming the initial suspicion.

I had similar symptoms on my Estima. A low key fob battery can cause those issues. I'd recommend checking the battery voltage.

When you had these issues, was it a gradual decline, or did it suddenly stop working? I'm trying to see if there might be other underlying problems besides the battery.

It was a gradual decline for me. But given the error stored and the loss of keyless access, I still suspect the key fob battery. If a new battery doesn't fix it, you might need a workshop.

You were right; a new key fob battery fixed everything! The total cost was 37€, including programming. Thanks for the help!
