Estima Poor Starts High Fuel Consumption

I own a 2004 Toyota Estima with a diesel engine, currently at 37757 km. I've observed higher fuel consumption recently, accompanied by poor vehicle starts. Diagnostics point towards a defective throttle valve. Could a defective accelerator pedal module be the likely cause, impacting the air intake? I'm also wondering about cleaning the control valve. Has anyone experienced similar issues?

Hey, I have an Estima too! I had a similar problem last year: higher fuel consumption and difficulty starting. Have you checked the throttle position sensor? Sometimes it gets gunked up and throws everything off.

Thank you for your input. Could you elaborate on the symptoms you experienced? Did they manifest consistently, and were there any associated error codes?

Yep, pretty consistent poor starts, especially when cold. I didn't get any codes at first, but eventually, it threw a code related to the throttle. Honestly, I just took it to a workshop; they sorted it out quickly.

I appreciate the insights. I've taken it to a local mechanic, and it was indeed the accelerator pedal module. Total repair cost came to 205€. Thank you again for confirming the issue; it helped guide the diagnosis.
