Etios Brake Booster Sensor Error

Hi, I'm experiencing a strange issue with my 2016 Toyota Etios diesel. The speedometer shows an error message, and the braking performance feels significantly reduced. I've also scanned for error codes, and it's showing a fault related to the brake booster pressure sensor. The car has 80007 km on the clock. Could this be linked to a recent brake bleed? I had the system flushed a few weeks back.

Reduced braking and a sensor error after a bleed? Sounds like air in the system affecting the booster. The booster relies on vacuum to assist braking, and if the pressure sensor detects an anomaly, it will throw a code. Did you follow the correct bleeding sequence? A faulty ABS unit can also cause similar symptoms, blocking flow like a kinked hose.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm not sure about the exact bleeding sequence that was followed. Is there a specific procedure for the Etios ABS system? Could an incorrect sequence damage the booster sensor? I am also unsure if there is air in the system, how would I find out?

An incorrect bleeding sequence won't necessarily damage the sensor directly, but it can certainly introduce air into the ABS module and brake lines, leading to erratic pressure readings and compromised braking. Given the error code and the reduced performance, it is highly probable that the sensor is indeed faulty. My advice would be to visit a workshop to check the ABS and the hydraulic unit, this is a vital system. You should consider a replacement, it is like ignoring a flashing engine warning light.

Thanks, that's very helpful. I took it to a local workshop, and they confirmed it was the brake booster pressure sensor, likely due to the incorrect bleeding procedure. They replaced the sensor for 90€, and the braking is back to normal now. Appreciate the advice!
