Etios immobilizer problem
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Toyota Etios diesel is experiencing an immobilizer problem, preventing the engine from starting. The issue is suspected to be related to incorrect key programming, as indicated by the flashing security light and error memory. The suggested solution is to have the key and immobilizer module recoded at a workshop, which successfully resolved the problem for another owner with similar symptoms.

Yeah, the security light is flashing like crazy when I try to start it! What exactly was the problem on yours?

Pretty sure it was the immobilizer losing its mind, likely due to incorrect key programming. Had to get it sorted at a workshop; they recoded the key and the immobilizer module. Honestly, I wouldn't mess with the immobilizer bypass; could cause more trouble down the line.

Thanks a lot! Recoding the key at the workshop fixed it. Cost me 45€. Appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar. I had similar immobilizer weirdness with my Etios a while back. Same symptoms: engine sputtering then cutting out. Did the security light on the dash act up too?
