Etios start stop issue
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Toyota Etios is experiencing issues with its start-stop system, including an error message, engine shutdowns, and a warning light. The problem may be due to the original battery, which is about four years old and could be causing voltage drops. It is suggested to test the battery and the charging system, as a weak battery or a faulty alternator could be the cause. Replacing the battery might resolve the issue, but checking the alternator is also recommended.

Thanks! I haven't checked the voltage yet, but it's the original battery, so about 4 years old. Could that be it? Would replacing the battery likely fix it, or should I check something else?

4 years is about right for a car battery, especially with start-stop. A new battery might do it, but I'd also check the charging system. A bad alternator could be the real problem. If it's just the battery, expect to pay around 290€ at the shop.

Okay, I appreciate the advice. I'll get the battery and charging system tested. Seems like the original battery is probably just done. Thanks!

I had a similar issue on my Etios. Have you checked the battery voltage? Start-stop systems are really sensitive to voltage drops. A weak battery could definitely cause that. How old is the battery?
