Etios turn signal error

I'm having a strange issue with my 2013 Toyota Etios, gasoline engine. The turn signal lamp is acting up. I keep getting an error stored in the error memory, and an error message pops up on the speedometer. Visually, there's definitely a fault in the lighting. I've checked the bulbs themselves and they seem fine. Could it be a defective cable or plug connection?

Summary of the thread

The 2013 Toyota Etios is experiencing a turn signal error, with an error message appearing on the speedometer despite the bulbs being intact. The issue may be due to a defective cable or plug connection. A similar problem in another vehicle was caused by a corroded connector in the wiring harness. After further inspection and professional assistance, the problem was confirmed to be a defective plug connection, which was successfully repaired.

Your issue sounds quite familiar. I once encountered a similar turn signal malfunction with my 2018 Opel Astra. The symptoms were practically identical – error message, light malfunction. The root cause ended up being a corroded connector in the wiring harness. Have you inspected the connectors and wiring leading to the turn signal assembly for any signs of corrosion or damage?

Thanks for the insight. I've visually inspected them, but perhaps not thoroughly enough. Where exactly should I be focusing my attention? Are there any specific points in the wiring harness that are more prone to this issue?

In my case with the Opel Astra, the corrosion was located near the point where the wiring harness connected to the bulb holder assembly. Given that you've already visually inspected it, I would advise a more detailed examination. If you lack experience with electrical repairs, seeking assistance from a workshop may be the most prudent course of action.

Thanks a lot for your help! Took it to the shop as you suggested. Turns out it was indeed a defective plug connection, just like we suspected. Repair cost me 95€. Everything's working fine now.
