Etios uneven running issue
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Toyota Etios with 192,950 km developed an uneven running issue, accompanied by a check engine light and error code. The problem manifested as jerking during acceleration, suggesting potential causes like a crankshaft sensor, fuel pump, or fuel injectors. After consulting with others, it was discovered that an exhaust leak was causing the engine to run lean, leading to the uneven performance. Repairing the exhaust system resolved the issue, restoring the car's smooth operation.

Yeah, the engine misfire analogy is pretty accurate. It's particularly noticeable under load. I haven't checked the code myself, but I can. Do you remember what your error code said?

The code pointed to an exhaust leak. It was causing the engine to run lean. The computer tries to compensate, but it can only do so much. With those kilometers on the clock, it's worth having the exhaust system checked out. Best to take it to a workshop.

Thanks for the tip! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. Turns out there was a leak in the exhaust system. Repair cost me 265€. Runs like new now!

I had a similar problem with my Etios. Does it feel like a persistent engine misfire, almost like a rough idle even when you're moving? Did you check the error code? What exactly does it say?
