Evalia cylinder pressure fluctuations

I'm having a headache with my 2011 Nissan Evalia diesel. I've got cylinder pressure fluctuations and the usual suspects are present: higher fuel consumption, reduced engine power, and the check engine light is on. The car has 228817 km. Could this be timing belt related? Or maybe something more sinister like a head gasket?

Cylinder pressure issues can manifest in several ways. Have you checked the spark plugs or considered potential problems with the turbocharger or fuel injectors? These are common culprits before jumping to conclusions about major engine components.

Thanks for the suggestions! I haven't looked at the spark plugs yet, but how would I determine if the turbocharger or fuel injectors are causing this? Are there specific tests I can do myself before taking it to a mechanic?

Given the complexity and potential for misdiagnosis, I would advise against extensive DIY troubleshooting in this instance. It sounds like a consequential error from something else. A professional diagnosis will be more efficient and cost-effective in the long run.

You were right! I took it to a workshop. Turns out it was a minor issue misreporting as a major one, and the repair cost was 0€! Thanks for the advice!
