Evalia glow control unit issue

Nissan Evalia 2012 diesel, about 79843 km. The preheating lamp doesn't switch off, the check engine light is on, and there's smoke when accelerating. I suspect a defective glow control unit. Initial inspection suggests a possible issue with the cable or plug connection. Has anyone else experienced this?

Interesting. I have an Evalia too, and I had very similar symptoms a while back. The preheating lamp issue and the check engine light coming on sound very familiar. Did you check the glow plugs themselves? Maybe try to determine which cylinder is affected, if any?

Thank you for your input. I haven't pinpointed the affected cylinder yet. Could you elaborate on what you found to be the root cause in your case?

It turned out to be a faulty glow control unit, just like you suspect. Though I initially thought it was something minor, I ended up taking it to a workshop as I wasn't comfortable working on the diesel injection system. Best to have it checked properly, as this can cause bigger issues down the road.

I appreciate the confirmation. I will proceed to have the glow control unit inspected at a workshop. Based on your experience, it seems prudent to address this promptly. Thank you, the cost of repair should be around 95€.
