Sounds frustrating! I had a similar experience with my old Renault Scenic. Different brand, but the symptoms were almost identical: jerking, check engine light, reduced power, the works. Turned out to be a massive vacuum leak in the intake manifold. The rubber seals had perished and it was causing all sorts of engine misfires. Is the smell of exhaust fumes particularly strong under the hood?

The exhaust smell is definitely stronger than usual, especially near the engine. So, the problem with your Renault Scenic was also in the intake manifold? What was the root cause, and did you manage to fix it yourself?

Yep, intake manifold was the culprit. The root cause was heat and age causing the manifold to scorch and crack. The seals went bad too, creating that vacuum leak. I tried a temporary fix with some sealant, but it didn't hold for long. Eventually, I had to get the whole manifold replaced. Given your symptoms and the error codes, I'd say get it checked by a workshop. Continuing to drive it like that might cause further damage. It cost me around 1180€ to get it fixed, parts and labor included. Don't ignore it!
