Evanda Brake Light Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Chevrolet Evanda experienced a brake light failure, with diagnostics indicating an error related to the brake light switch. The issue was traced to the switch being slightly dislodged due to prior work under the dashboard. Re-seating the switch resolved the problem without any cost.

No adjustments have been made recently to the brake pedal or switch area, and there's no sign of moisture or impact. Is there a known sensitivity with this component that might explain the failure without external factors?

Given that you've ruled out adjustments and external factors, it sounds like the switch itself may be the culprit. While you could test it with a multimeter, a workshop visit might be best to diagnose and resolve it.

Your recommendation was accurate; the brake light switch was the cause. It was slightly dislodged due to user error during prior work under the dashboard, but still functional. Re-seating the switch fixed it, at no cost.

I had a similar issue with my Evanda. Did you recently adjust anything near the brake pedal or the switch? Sometimes even a slight movement can throw things off. Has the switch been exposed to any unusual moisture or impact?
