Evanda Check Engine Light and Stalling

I own a 2004 Chevrolet Evanda with a gasoline engine. Recently, the check engine light came on, and the engine sometimes stalls when idling. The car has 80563 km on the clock. Could this be related to a fuel tank ventilation system leak?

Summary of the thread

A 2004 Chevrolet Evanda owner experienced a check engine light and engine stalling, particularly when the fuel tank was full. This issue was suspected to be related to a fuel tank ventilation system leak. Another individual with a similar problem identified a defective activated charcoal filter as the cause, which was confirmed upon diagnosis. The recommended solution was to have the vehicle checked by a workshop, leading to the repair of the defective filter.

I had a similar problem with my Evanda. The check engine light and stalling sound familiar. Does it happen more when the fuel tank is full?

Yes, it does seem more frequent when the tank is full. What was the issue in your case? Was it related to the fuel tank air flow?

For me, it turned out to be a defective activated charcoal filter in the fuel tank ventilation system. The pressure sensor probably reported a system failure and triggered the check engine light. A purge valve malfunction can cause similar symptoms. I recommend having a workshop check it out.

Thank you for the advice. I'll take it to a workshop. The diagnosis confirmed a defective activated charcoal filter, causing a fuel tank ventilation system leak. The repair cost 275€.
