Summary of the thread
The 2001 Chevrolet Evanda is experiencing engine stalling at idle, accompanied by a check engine light. A potential cause identified is a contaminated intake and a faulty idle air control valve. Cleaning the intake and replacing the idle air control valve resolved the issue, restoring smooth engine operation.

Contaminated intake, huh? Yeah, now that you mention it, it does look pretty cruddy in there. So, if it WAS the idle air control valve on yours, how did you figure that out for sure? And was it hard to replace?

I tried cleaning the intake first, but no luck. Eventually, I took it to a shop. They confirmed it was the idle air control valve causing the engine stalling. Honestly, I wouldn't mess with it myself unless you're really confident. I’d say, get it checked!

Thanks for the tip! I took your advice and brought it to a mechanic. Turns out, you were spot on - it WAS the idle air control valve, and the intake was heavily contaminated just like you said! Cost me 425€ to get it all sorted, but at least the Evanda is running smoothly again. Appreciate the help!

Dude, I had almost the exact same problem with my Evanda! Check engine light, stalling at idle... Ugh, it was a nightmare. Did you notice if your intake is super contaminated? That was the root of my problem. It ended up being a bad idle air control valve. Is that what you're leaning towards?
