Evanda exhaust flap issue
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Chevrolet Evanda owner is experiencing issues with the exhaust flaps, leading to a louder exhaust and rough engine sounds, particularly when cold. The problem is suspected to be a defective exhaust flap motor. A similar case was resolved by replacing the flap, which improved the car's performance. It is recommended to have the issue professionally diagnosed and repaired to ensure proper functioning.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't had a chance to visually inspect it yet, but I'll take a look tomorrow. When you had the issue, was it a constant loud exhaust, or just at certain times? And did you end up replacing the whole exhaust system, or just the flap motor?

Mine was intermittent at first, then became constant. I tried fiddling with it myself, but honestly, access is a pain. In the end, I took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the flap and replaced it. I'd suggest getting it properly diagnosed; could save you time and hassle in the long run.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I'll take your word for it and book it in with a mechanic soon. Turns out the exhaust flap was indeed defective. Cost me around 190€ to get it sorted, but the car sounds much better now.

I had a similar issue with my Evanda some time ago. Loud exhaust, error codes popping up... Sounds like your exhaust flap is indeed on its way out. Have you checked for any visible damage or blockages around the exhaust components?
