Evanda Gear Shift Issues

I'm having trouble with my 2006 Chevrolet Evanda with a gasoline engine. The gear shift indicator display isn't working. I also can't engage the gears correctly, the automatic transmission is shifting strangely, the gearbox is slipping, and there are grinding noises during shifts. There's also an error stored. I checked the shift knob, but the problem is still there. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

The 2006 Chevrolet Evanda is experiencing gear shift issues, including a non-functional gear shift indicator, incorrect gear engagement, strange automatic transmission shifts, slipping, and grinding noises. The error code P0705 indicates a Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction, and the transmission fluid is darker than expected. Possible causes include a defective control unit or issues within the transmission's control system, potentially exacerbated by fluid degradation. It is advised to consult a qualified workshop for a diagnostic evaluation to prevent further damage and costly repairs.

That sounds inconvenient. What's the specific error code? Knowing that could narrow things down. Also, have you checked the transmission fluid level and condition? Low or contaminated fluid can cause similar symptoms, and it's easy to check.

The error code is P0705 - Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction. The transmission fluid level is okay, but it's a bit darker than I'd expect. Could that discoloration be contributing to the issues, even with enough fluid?

P0705, those symptoms, and the fluid discoloration point to a potential issue in the transmission's control system. The discoloration suggests degradation or contamination, which could affect the valve body and sensors. I'd recommend consulting a qualified workshop. They have the tools to pinpoint the cause, which could be a defective control unit. Continuing to drive it could make it worse and more expensive to repair.

I appreciate the assessment. I'll schedule a workshop appointment for a diagnostic evaluation. It seems a defective control unit is likely, with an anticipated repair cost of around 1000€.
