Evanda Intermittent Ignition
Summary of the thread
The 2003 Chevrolet Evanda is experiencing intermittent ignition issues, including failure to start, abrupt shutdowns, and rough running. Initial checks on the battery and starter motor showed no issues, leading to suspicions about a defective fuse or ignition components. Suggestions included examining the ignition switch for loose or corroded connections, as similar symptoms were resolved by addressing the switch. Ultimately, the problem was confirmed to be the ignition switch, which was repaired at a workshop.

Thanks for the tip. Where exactly is the ignition switch located, and what should I be looking for in terms of faulty connections? Also, could a faulty ignition coil cause these exact symptoms, or would that manifest differently?

The ignition switch is located right behind the ignition key slot, part of the steering column. Look for any loose or corroded wiring there. Given the erratic symptoms, I'd lean towards a faulty switch rather than coil. To be honest, though, I ended up taking mine to a workshop. I’m not an expert, and car electronics are like a black box to me. Best to get it properly diagnosed.

Appreciate the advice. Took it to the shop as you suggested, and it was indeed the ignition switch. The final repair cost was 52€. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my Evanda a while back. The symptoms you describe – engine not starting, cutting out – are pretty much what I experienced. It turned out to be related to the ignition switch. Have you considered checking the electrical connections to it? It's like a water pipe with a kink; the power might not be flowing correctly. Did you consider the ignition coil as a possible source?
