Evanda Reduced Engine Power

Hey, I've got a 2002 Chevrolet Evanda, gasoline engine, with about 158600 km on it. Recently, I've noticed the engine power is way down, and the check engine light is on. I'm thinking it might be the throttle valve. Anyone else had similar issues?

Summary of the thread

A 2002 Chevrolet Evanda experienced reduced engine power and a check engine light, suspected to be related to the throttle valve. Possible causes included throttle body issues, air leaks, or problems with the accelerator pedal module or throttle position sensor. Cleaning the throttle body and checking for leaks were suggested, but ultimately, a professional diagnosis revealed faulty throttle valve electronics, which were replaced, resolving the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Reduced power and check engine light definitely point to a throttle issue. Has the car gone into limp mode, restricting your speed? Have you checked for any obvious air leaks around the throttle body, or tried cleaning the throttle body itself? A clogged air filter can also contribute, restricting air flow and impacting fuel efficiency.

Limp mode's kicking in sometimes, yeah. Haven't checked for leaks, but cleaning the throttle body is on my list. You reckon it could actually be the accelerator pedal module, or something with the electronics inside the throttle valve itself?

Given that limp mode is intermittent, and you've checked basic air flow, it's possible the issue stems from the accelerator pedal module or internal electronics. These can be sensitive and fail intermittently. The throttle position sensor is a common failure point. At this mileage and with those symptoms, it's best to get it properly diagnosed at a workshop. They can use diagnostic tools to pinpoint the fault. It sounds like a replacement is in order.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to the shop, and you were right, it was the throttle valve electronics. Replacement cost me about 265€. Runs like a dream now!
