Everest charging system fault

I'm having some trouble with my 2016 Ford Everest diesel. It's got 147859 km on the clock. Recently, I've noticed reduced engine power, a warning light, and the car starts poorly. The lights are also weak and flickering. I scanned it and there's an error stored related to the charging system. Could it be the generator?

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my Everest. Check the generator, but also make sure your battery connections are clean and tight. How old is your battery? A weak battery can cause all sorts of weird electrical problems.

The battery is about three years old. I'll check the connections. When you had those symptoms, what exactly was the problem with your car?

For me it was a defective generator. Eventually, the car wouldn't start at all. Considering the symptoms and the error code, I'd say it's highly likely your generator is on its way out. I'd take it to a workshop to confirm.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to the workshop as you suggested, and you were right, it was indeed a defective generator. Had it replaced, cost me 960€ but everything is working as it should now.
