Everest engine misfires
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Ford Everest with 180,000 km is experiencing rough engine performance, a check engine light, jerking during acceleration, and reduced power, with an OBD scan indicating combustion misfires. The initial suspicion was a defective fuel injector. After considering other potential causes like the fuel pump and throttle body, the issue was confirmed to be a faulty injector, which was replaced, resolving the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply! The fuel filter was changed about 30,000 km ago. The fuel pump seems to be working, and I've checked the fuel pressure, which appears normal. However, I haven't checked the injection valves themselves. Are there any tricks?

My problem was similar and it was the injectors in the end. Before I got to swapping parts I got the fuel system professionally checked. If you're seeing misfires and have checked the basics, then I'd consider taking it to a workshop to be sure.

Thanks for confirming. It turned out to be a defective injector, as suspected. Replaced the faulty injector, and the engine runs smoothly now. All in, the repair set me back 515€.

I had something similar with my Everest. I'd check the fuel pump and also give the throttle body a good clean before jumping to injectors. When was the fuel filter last changed?
