Everest gear shift indicator failure

Anyone seen this? My 2009 Ford Everest (gasoline engine) has a gear shift indicator problem. Can't engage gears. Auto transmission shifts badly, slips, unclean shifts. Grinding noises when shifting. Error stored, gear selection display in the speedometer is dead. Could it be a bad control unit?

That sounds incredibly frustrating! I had a similar electronic display issue in my old 2012 Opel Astra. The symptoms weren't exactly the same but the display was going crazy and the car was shifting erratically. I was getting error messages too. Was the error code related to the transmission control unit?

The error messages pointed towards the transmission control module. Honestly, I didn't try fixing it myself. With the shifting issues and the weird display, I didn't want to risk making things worse. I'd suggest consulting a trusted workshop ASAP. I really hope it's not too expensive!
