Everest Jerking Acceleration

I've got a 2009 Ford Everest with the gasoline engine, and it's developed a really annoying uneven running issue. The check engine light keeps popping on, and I pulled the codes – an error is stored, but I don’t have the exact code handy. The big problem is the jerking when accelerating. It’s got 108603 km on the clock. I've checked the spark plugs, and they seem okay. Could it be fuel injectors, the ignition coil, or even the fuel pump? Any thoughts?

I had a similar thing happen with my Everest (don't remember the exact year). Jerking acceleration and a check engine light are super annoying. Did you happen to check for any weird noises coming from the exhaust? Could be a leak somewhere.

Huh, an exhaust leak? I hadn't considered that. Where exactly should I be looking for a leak? Is there a common spot on the Everest where they tend to happen?

Honestly, I'm not a mechanic, so I couldn't tell you the exact spot. But when mine did that, it turned out to be a crack in the exhaust manifold. Best bet is to take it to a workshop and have them smoke test it, they'll find it pretty quick.

Thanks for the tip! I took it to my local shop, and you were spot on. Turns out I had a leak in the exhaust system, near the manifold just like you said. Repair cost me 265€, but at least it's running smoothly now. Appreciate the help!
