Everest Oil Pressure Warning

Hey, I'm having a major issue with my 2013 Ford Everest diesel. The oil pressure warning lamp keeps lighting up, and I'm hearing some pretty nasty mechanical noises coming from the engine. The car has 118718 km on the clock. I checked the oil level, and it's fine. I'm worried it could be the oil pump. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

I had a similar problem with my old Opel Insignia. Same symptoms: oil pressure light and strange noises. First thing, when was the last oil change? Are you using the correct oil viscosity as recommended by Ford? Also, any signs of oil leakage anywhere?

Thanks for the quick response! The oil was changed about 8000 km ago, using the recommended oil viscosity, as far as I know. There's no visible oil leakage that I can see. What was the cause in your case?

Well, in my case, it turned out to be a total oil pump failure. Considering you've ruled out low oil level, incorrect viscosity, and oil leaks, I'd say it points towards the same issue. I'd advise against driving it any further and get it to a workshop ASAP to avoid further engine damage.

Thanks a lot for your help! It seems you were right. Took it to the workshop, and they confirmed the oil pump needs replacing. Quoted me 755€ for the repair. Ouch! Hopefully, this fixes it.
