Everest transmission oil pressure fault
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Ford Everest exhibited a transmission oil pressure sensor fault, causing the engine light to activate and the gearbox to enter emergency mode with rough shifting. The issue was suspected to be either a faulty sensor or low transmission oil. Upon inspection at a workshop, it was determined that the low oil level was causing the sensor error. After topping up the oil, the problem was resolved, avoiding a costly transmission replacement.

Interesting. So, you think it's just the oil level? I assumed the sensor itself might be faulty. Was your Astra also throwing a specific sensor error, or just general transmission issues?

Mine also showed a sensor error related to the transmission. The mechanic initially thought it was the sensor, but after checking the oil, that was the culprit. I'd still recommend getting it properly diagnosed, but low oil could be the simple explanation. A workshop visit may be needed.

Thanks for the tip! Took it to the workshop, and you were right – the oil level was low, causing the sensor to freak out. They topped it up, checked the sensor, and all seems good now. Cost me 365€, a lot cheaper than a new transmission! Cheers!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra. Engine light, weird shifting. Turned out the gearbox oil level was too low. Might be worth checking, it's like a car's blood, you know? Low levels can cause all sorts of problems.
