Exchange of experiences: Climate control unit in Renault Modus 2005 goes on strike at 45,000 km mileage

Hey guys, have you ever had any experience with the air conditioning control unit? My 2005 Renault Modus with a diesel engine is running into problems, the ventilation is on strike at just under 45,000 km. The last time I went to the mechanic I didn't have any fun. Can you give me any tips on what your visit to the garage was like? Has anyone experienced similar incidents with their car? Let me know, thanks!

Summary of the thread

A 2005 Renault Modus with a diesel engine is experiencing issues with its climate control unit at just under 45,000 km, causing the ventilation system to stop working. A similar problem was reported by another owner of a Renault Scenic, who had to replace the faulty climate control unit, a common repair that resolved the issue. The suggested solution is to replace the climate control unit, which, although costly, should restore proper function and prevent further problems.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2008 Renault Scenic. My climate control unit was faulty and the whole thing was just a bit annoying. The heating/ventilation had simply stopped working. They replaced it at the garage, it wasn't a big job, but it was something important. They said it was probably a popular repair. It took some time in the workshop, but after that everything ran smoothly again. It's just that if it breaks down, the air conditioning and heating system are simply gone, so it has to be repaired. Not nice, but what can you do, right? Hope this helps you.

Hey, I also had a problem with the climate control panel in my Modus. Everything is fine now, but it was really annoying. Can you remember how expensive the repair was for you? Have you had any problems since then or did everything run smoothly afterwards?

So after the mechanic had a hand in it once, fortunately there were no further problems. The defect in the air conditioning control unit was successfully repaired. The repair costs were around €940, which was needed to fix the faulty air conditioning control unit. I know that's no mean feat, but once it was done, everything worked as it should again. No further problems since then. I hope this helps you a bit!

Thanks for the info, guys! I'm reassured to hear that problems like this don't occur again after the repair. I probably won't be able to avoid replacing the climate control unit. 940 euros is a lot, but if everything works again afterwards, then it's worth it. Hopefully I won't be left in the lurch again afterwards. Thanks again for your help, really great!
