Excursion exhaust flap issue
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Ford Excursion with a gasoline engine is experiencing issues with the exhaust flap, indicated by an error code and increased noise levels, especially after a cold start. Interesting! I assumed it was the flap actuator because of the error code, and the noise seems to be coming from that area. What was it in your case? Did you experience degraded engine performance as well?

Yeah, the code pointed to the actuator for me too at first! Turned out, the flap itself was seized and causing the actuator to throw the error. Eventually I took it to a workshop and they sorted it. Cost me around 190€ with parts and labor.

Thanks for the insight! Sounds like I should probably just get it checked out by a professional. The 190€ repair cost is also good to know and helps in estimating. I appreciate your experience!

I had a similar issue with my Excursion (don't remember the year but it's the same model). Loud exhaust is a key symptom. Are you sure it's the flap actuator?
