Excursion PCV Valve Issue

Hi, I have a 2002 Ford Excursion with a gasoline engine. Recently, the check engine light came on. I've noticed reduced engine power and some smoke when accelerating. After some research, I suspect a crankcase ventilation valve malfunction. Has anyone experienced similar issues?

Sounds like it could be a PCV valve issue. Is the smoke black or blueish? And have you checked the valve itself for any obvious signs of damage or blockage?

The smoke is more on the blueish side. I haven't taken the valve out yet, but I can try to locate it and inspect it. Where exactly is it usually located on this engine?

Blueish smoke often indicates oil burning, which a bad PCV valve can cause. Given the symptoms, a defective crankcase ventilation is the most likely culprit. I'd recommend getting it checked out by a workshop. Continuing to drive it might cause more damage.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a mechanic, and you were right – it was the PCV valve. The repair cost 360€. Everything seems to be running smoothly now.
