Excursion rough running stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Ford Excursion was experiencing rough running, stalling at idle, and jerking during acceleration, with the check engine light on. The initial suspicion was a faulty fuel pressure sensor. After inspecting the sensor's cable and plug connection, it was found that a defective cable was the cause. Replacing the cable resolved the issue, and the vehicle is now running smoothly.

Yeah, I gave the plug a look, but didn't see anything obvious. Is there a way to test the sensor itself to be sure that's the problem?

Testing the sensor directly requires specialized equipment and a good understanding of electrical diagnostics. If a visual inspection of the wiring and connections didn't reveal any obvious issues, it might be prudent to have a qualified technician diagnose the problem. Given the potential impact on fuel delivery and engine performance, I recommend taking your vehicle to a workshop.

Thanks for the advice. Turns out it was a defective cable to the fuel pressure sensor. Replaced it, and it's running fine now. Cost me 95€ at the shop.

The symptoms you describe, especially the rough idle and stalling, do suggest a possible fuel system issue. A defective fuel pressure sensor could indeed be the culprit. Have you checked the sensor's cable and plug connection for any signs of damage or corrosion? A faulty connection there could easily cause those problems. The fuel system relies on maintaining the correct fuel pressure for optimal engine operation. Fuel injectors deliver fuel into the engine's cylinders. A faulty fuel pressure sensor will negatively affect the fuel injection and overall performance.
