Expedition Auxiliary Heater Issue

Having issues with the auxiliary heater in my 2009 Ford Expedition with a gasoline engine. The parking heater won't activate, and there's an error stored. I'm suspecting a defective glow plug. I've checked the temperature sensor and heating system for coolant leaks and heat control. The vehicle has 177184 km on it. Anyone seen this before?

I had a similar issue with my '14 Audi A6. Same symptoms: parking heater wouldn't fire up, error code thrown. Did you check the glow plug resistance? That's usually the first thing to go.

Thanks. I haven't checked the glow plug resistance directly yet. How did you test that on your Audi? Any specific tools or readings I should be looking for?

I used a multimeter set to ohms. Disconnected the glow plug and measured the resistance between the terminal and the body. If it's open circuit or way out of spec, it's toast. After messing with it, I just took it to a shop. It was exactly what I thought. Saved myself the headache.

Appreciate the confirmation and advice. I'll do the resistance test, but it sounds like a workshop visit is inevitable. The estimated repair cost with parts and labor is around 440€. Thanks again!
