Expedition climate control panel issue

Hi, I'm having a strange issue with my 2005 Ford Expedition with a gasoline engine. The climate control panel isn't working at all. I'm getting an error stored in the error memory, the heating output is way too low, and the air conditioning system just refuses to switch on. I've checked the fuses but haven't found anything obviously blown. Any ideas what might be going on? It's got around 170086 km on the clock.

Summary of the thread

A 2005 Ford Expedition owner experienced a non-functional climate control panel, low heating output, and an unresponsive air conditioning system. Despite checking the fuses, no obvious issues were found. A suggestion was made to inspect the blower motor connection for loose wires or corrosion. Ultimately, a mechanic identified and repaired a defective cable connection to the control panel, resolving the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey there! That sounds super frustrating. I actually had a similar problem with my old BMW 3 series a while back. My heating and AC were acting up, and the whole control panel seemed possessed. Did you happen to check the connection to the blower motor? On the BMW, that was a real common culprit for electronic faults in the HVAC system.

Thanks for the tip! Blower motor connection, huh? Where exactly would I find that on the Expedition? And what would I be looking for specifically – loose wires, corrosion, or something else?

Okay, so on the BMW, the blower motor was tucked up under the dashboard on the passenger side, but I'm not sure about your Expedition. Check your car's repair manual for the exact location. Basically, wiggle the connector and see if anything happens. If not, disconnect it and check for any corrosion or bent pins. If you're not comfortable doing that, honestly, a workshop visit might be the best bet at this point. They can diagnose it properly.

Thanks so much for the help! I took it to a local mechanic, and it turned out to be a defective cable connection to the control panel, like you suggested. They fixed it for 95€, and now everything is working perfectly again. Your mentioning of electrical connections really pointed me in the right direction!
