Expedition fuel pump issue

Having trouble with my 2001 Ford Expedition with a gasoline engine. It's got about 237967 km on it. Recently, it's been acting up – hard to start, sometimes stalls out at idle, and the check engine light is on. The engine also seems to be running rough, and my fuel consumption has definitely gone up. I pulled the codes, and it looks like it's related to the fuel pump. I've checked some of the basics, like fuses, but could it be a faulty fuel pump relay or maybe just a bad connection somewhere?

I had similar symptoms in my Expedition. Sounds like textbook fuel pump failure. Have you checked the simple stuff first, like the fuel filter?

Yeah, I replaced the fuel filter a few months back, so it should be fine. Where was your fuel pump issue located? Was it actually the pump itself, or something else in the fuel system?

In my case, it was indeed the pump. Considering the error codes, rough running, and stalling, I'd advise getting it properly diagnosed at a workshop. Could be a defective cable or a bad plug connection to the pump itself. Don't want to risk getting stranded.

Thanks for the insight. I took it to the shop, and you were right – it was a defective cable at the fuel pump. They replaced the cable and connector, and it seems to have solved the problem. Cost me about 95€ all in. Appreciate the help!
