Expedition Oil Pressure Warning

My 2016 Ford Expedition with a gasoline engine has an intermittent oil pressure warning lamp and loud mechanical noises. It has 124935 km on it. Oil level is normal. Could it be a clogged oil filter or a failing oil pump?

Sounds rough, man. I had similar symptoms with my old Opel astra – warning light and knocking. Turned out the oil pump was on its way out. Have you noticed any oil leakage?

I have not observed any visible oil leakage. Were there any other symptoms you experienced with your Opel that might be relevant? How many kilometers were on your Opel when the oil pump failed?

No other symptoms really, just those noises and the light. Mileage was around 140000 km if I remember correctly. I'd suggest getting it checked out by a workshop ASAP before you cause more damage. Could be engine bearings going bad if the oil pressure is truly low.

I took the Expedition to a certified mechanic, and they determined the oil pump was defective and needed replacement. The repair, including parts and labor, amounted to 755€. Hopefully, this resolves the issue.
