Experience reports wanted: Overheating and air conditioning problems with Ford Mondeo 2015

Hey guys, do you have any experience with a 2015 Ford Mondeo with a gasoline engine and just under 90,000 kilometers on the clock? My problem is that the air conditioning only blows warm air and the car constantly overheats. I suspect the electric fan could be the problem. Have any of you had similar problems and what was your experience with the mechanic, especially after a bad experience on your last visit? I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks in advance!

Hey, I drive a 2012 Ford Focus and I recently had a similar problem. In my case, as you suspect, the problem was actually the electric fan. More precisely, the "control unit/resistor" was defective. The guys in the workshop did a really good job. They checked whether the fan was running at full power, because if the resistor is broken, the fan will either not run at all or not at full power. They examined the control unit in detail and finally replaced the resistor. And since then - no more problems with the air conditioning or engine protection. It was a serious matter - it can lead to engine damage if the engine is constantly overheating. Remember to get it fixed as soon as possible. Take care, man!

Hey, thanks for the quick response and the interesting information! I can see that I should definitely have the electric fan looked at more closely. Sorry to keep asking, but do you happen to remember what you paid for the repair? And has there been any new problem since the repair or has everything been running smoothly since then? I'm always a bit nervous when it comes to garage visits... Thank you in advance!

Hey, no problem! So, to answer your questions, my electric fan cost €480 to repair and it was specifically the "control unit/resistor" that was faulty and needed replacing. I can understand you, visits to the garage always make me a bit nervous too, but since then my car hasn't caused any more problems. The interference with the electric fan has been completely rectified and everything has been running smoothly ever since. Don't worry! Your car will also be fine if you get it checked in time. Hope this helps you!

Thank you for the detailed and helpful information! Of course, you can't really call it a bargain at that price, but if replacing the control unit/resistor makes my car run smoothly again, then it's definitely worth the money. Your positive experience reassures me a little. Now I just have to make an appointment at the garage and hope that they can solve the problem as efficiently and easily as you did. Thanks again for your help, I'll keep you posted! Take care!
