Experiences Needed: Dim Lights and Weak Start on 2021 Hybrid Renault Arkana

Hey Car Pros! I'm dealing with some odd stuff with my 2021 Hybrid Renault Arkana, it's got about 167k on the clock. Been noticing dim or flickering lights and a weak start lately, thinking it might be the vehicle battery temperature sensor. Had a rough go with my mechanic previously, so I'm fishing for thoughts and experiences. Any of you had these issues and took it to the repair? What was it like? Cheers.

Hey there! Sure sounds like a faulty battery temperature sensor, the symptoms you're describing remind me almost exactly of what happened to my old 2017 Renault Kadjar. Saw the same things like dim lights and the engine struggling to start up. Turns out it was indeed the battery temperature sensor that had conked out, they had to replace it. And yes, it was pretty serious. That sensor helps to keep your battery functioning optimally by controlling its temperature. Without it, your battery can overheat or underperform which gives you those issues you're dealing with. Hope this helps, best of luck with it!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! Your experience sounds pretty similar to what I'm facing, that kinda backs up my battery temperature sensor theory. Out of curiosity, do you remember how much it cost you to get it replaced, roughly speaking? And, did you experience any related issues later on? Any other troubles after repairing it? Appreciate your help. Cheers!

Hey! No worries, happy to help. Getting the battery temperature sensor fixed on the ol' Arkana set me back about 315€. Not exactly cheap, but certainly worth it to keep the car running smoothly. And to answer your other question, nope, I haven't run into any more battery-related problems since the fix. Seems like the repair did the trick and got everything back to normal. Fingers crossed, it stays that way! Best of luck with your repair, hope you won't have to dig any deeper into your pockets after this. Cheers!

Hey, that's a relief to hear! That price is a bit spicy, but I reckon it's better than having a car that won't start up reliably. And it's awesome to hear that you haven't had any more problems after the fix. Alright then, sounds like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place but at least now I know what I have to do - get that sensor replaced! Thanks a ton for your help, really appreciate it. Cheers!
