Experiencing Exhaust Aftertreatment Issues with 2021 Renault Arkana Hybrid: Seeking Advice
Summary of the thread
The 2021 Renault Arkana Hybrid is experiencing issues such as black smoke on acceleration, a persistent check engine light, power loss, an exhaust leak, and a strong exhaust smell. The problem is suspected to be a faulty lambda sensor, a component of the exhaust system that helps regulate emissions. The suggested solution is to have the vehicle inspected by a professional and replace the defective sensor if necessary. This has resolved similar issues in other Renault models, leading to improved vehicle performance.

Hey there, cheers for the info, really appreciate it! Seems like we're on the same boat with the lambda sensor issue. I'm curious though, do you recall roughly how much the whole fix cost you back then? And more importantly, since the repair, have you noticed any other unusual issues or has your Clio been running smoothly? Knowing all this will be a great help. Thanks a lot!

Hey, no problem at all! I definitely feel your pain. Alright, so coming to your queries, the repair didn't cost me an arm and a leg, thankfully. It rounded up to €375 for replacing the lambda sensor. After that, the car's been like a dream! No more of that gnarly black smoke or those jittery stallings, ya know? And as for that Exhaust aftertreatment issue you thought it might be - knocked that one off the list after my trip to the mechanic. So, no more troubles on that front. So, in short, my Clio's handled like a beaut since the fix. Definitely recommend you getting it looked up as soon as you can. Nothing worse than a nagging car issue, right? Take care, dude!

Cheers for the valuable info! It's great to hear that your Clio's been behaving since the issue was sorted. Now, I know where to start and hopefully won’t burn a hole in my pocket fixing it. The black smoke and power loss were indeed getting on my nerves. So, lucky me, having you share your experience for reference! Guess a trip to the mechanic is due this weekend. Thanks again, you've been a great help. Stay safe out there!

good day, I have an Arkan 1.3 TCe 140 PS /2021 /102 tkm; when the engine is turned off, the orange( Yellow) wantck engine light comes on TIMES; when starting the engine, this light comes on along with all others and goes off together. No light comes on while driving. There are also no other symptoms. The car accelerates nimbly, does not jerk there is no smell of gasoline or exhaust fumes. What is the issue here ???

It sounds like your check engine light is functioning normally. When you turn the ignition on, all the warning lights should illuminate as a self-check, and then go off once the engine starts. If the check engine light or any other warning lights remain on while driving, that's when you should be concerned. However, if you notice any changes in your vehicle's performance or any new symptoms, it would be best to have it inspected by a professional. Do you have any other concerns or questions?

Hey there! Had a pretty similar issue with my 2017 Renault Clio not too long ago. The symptoms you're describing seem suspiciously like a faulty lambda sensor. Lambda sensors, for those who might not know, are part of the car's exhaust system that help keep emissions in check. When mine went out, I too was dealing with black smoke and a persistent check engine light. That nasty stalling and power loss you're experiencing? Mine was doing the same thing. It totally hampers the ride quality, I know. I took my Coug to my local garage. They did a comprehensive check and finally pinpointed the lambda sensor as the culprit. While the issue sounds serious, the fix wasn't anything majorly complex. They just replaced the defective sensor after a bit of fiddling. That said, without knowing exactly what's wrong it's tough to be sure. Still, from my experience and your described symptoms, I'd bet on it being a lambda sensor problem. Hope this helps! Get your ride checked as soon as possible, ya? Take care.
