Expert dashboard lights issue

I'm getting seriously frustrated with my 2007 Peugeot Expert (gasoline engine). The dashboard lights are acting possessed! Sometimes they're super dim, sometimes they're full brightness, sometimes they just don't come on at all! It's giving me a 'Fault in the lighting' error, and the garage said there's something logged in the error memory. Anyone else had this happen? I'm thinking it's the light switch itself, maybe a dodgy connection?

I had something similar with my Expert. Are you sure all the other lights are working properly? It might be a bad ground connection somewhere. Check the dimmer switch first, and the connector behind it, that's where I would start.

So, when you say similar, do you mean the dashboard lights were flickering and giving you error messages too? Did fiddling with the dimmer switch actually fix it or just point you to the problem?

Yeah, flickering dashboard lights, errors popping up – the whole shebang. I tried cleaning the dimmer switch contacts, but no luck. Ended up being a defective plug. I'd advise you to check that first, but I just took it to a workshop. For me the most likely cause was a defective cable or plug connection of the component.
