Expert Oil Pressure Warning

My 2012 Peugeot Expert with a gasoline engine is giving me grief. The oil pressure warning lamp keeps lighting up, and I'm hearing some pretty nasty mechanical noises coming from the engine. I'm suspecting low oil pressure. Anyone else run into this?

I had a similar issue with my Peugeot Expert. I'm not sure about the year model, but it also had oil pressure issues. Have you checked for any oil leakage? Could be a simple fix, but low oil pressure is never a good sign.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did a quick check for oil leakage, but didn't find anything obvious. Could it be something more serious, like the oil pump itself? I'm worried about the engine bearings getting damaged if the pressure is truly low.

Yeah, if you're not seeing any leaks and the light is still on, plus those noises... it might be the oil pump on its way out. Best to get it checked by a workshop before it causes major damage. I had to get mine towed.

Appreciate the advice. Turns out it was indeed the oil pump. Defect in the oil pump. It cost 755€ to get it sorted, but at least the engine is running smoothly again. Thanks again for the help!
