Explorer climate control panel dead

Alright, I'm tearing my hair out here. My 2022 Ford Explorer Hybrid is throwing me for a loop. Got about 183055 km on the clock. The climate control panel is completely dead – nada, zip, zilch! I've got an error code stored, the heat output is laughable, and the AC refuses to kick on. I'm suspecting a dodgy cable or plug somewhere in the system. Anyone else seen this gremlin?

Summary of the thread

The climate control panel in a 2022 Ford Explorer Hybrid was completely non-functional, with no heat or AC, and an error code present. The initial suspicion was a faulty cable or plug. A suggestion was made to check the blower motor resistor and wiring harness, but the complete lack of panel functionality pointed more towards a wiring issue. The problem was confirmed to be a corroded connector in the wiring harness, which was resolved, restoring the climate control system.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had a similar issue with my Explorer (don't remember the year exactly). Have you checked the blower motor resistor and the wiring harness that goes to it? A faulty resistor can cause the blower motor to not function, and that could affect the entire climate control system. It's worth a look before diving into more complex electronic diagnostics.

Interesting! The blower motor resistor... I hadn't considered that specifically. But if the resistor was shot, wouldn't I still see some signs of life on the climate control panel itself? Like, even just a flicker or a single light? Right now, it's completely blank. Is that consistent with what you experienced?

That's a fair point. Yes, in my case, the panel was at least partially functional, although the blower speed was erratic. Given your panel is completely dead, and you're seeing multiple symptoms, it does sound like the defective cable or plug connection is the more likely culprit as you initially suspected. At this point, I would advise taking it to a qualified workshop.

Appreciate the input! Confirmed the issue. Ended up being a corroded connector in the wiring harness, just like I suspected. 95€ later and the Explorer's blowing cold air again. Thanks for the advice!
