Explorer Engine Stalling and Power Loss
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Ford Explorer is experiencing engine stalling, reduced power, and a check engine light, with diagnostics pointing to a fuel volume regulator issue. The symptoms could also be caused by a faulty high-pressure fuel pump. It is suggested to check the oxygen and mass airflow sensors, but ultimately, a mechanic confirmed the high-pressure fuel pump was defective, necessitating the replacement of the fuel volume regulator.

Yes, fuel efficiency has decreased. I haven't checked the sensors thoroughly. Which sensors are most relevant to these symptoms?

I'd check the oxygen and mass airflow sensors. DIY is possible, but a fuel regulator issue can be serious, so a mechanic might be best to avoid problems. A bad high-pressure fuel pump can cause chaos, so consider a workshop.

A mechanic confirmed a defective high-pressure fuel pump, requiring fuel volume regulator replacement. The repair cost 1510€. Thanks for the advice.

I had a similar problem with my Explorer. Check engine light, rough idle, and less power sound familiar. Did you check the car sensors? Also, has your fuel efficiency dropped recently?
