Explorer IAT Sensor Error
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Ford Explorer is experiencing reduced power and rough running, with a diagnostic tool indicating an intake air temperature (IAT) sensor error. The issue could be due to a defective IAT sensor or possibly loose or corroded connections. Testing the sensor with a multimeter is suggested, but given the vehicle's age, replacing the sensor might be the best solution. Ultimately, replacing the IAT sensor resolved the problem, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Yeah, I checked the connections, seemed okay at first glance. Is there a way to test the sensor itself to be sure before replacing it?

You could test the sensor with a multimeter, but honestly, for the age of the vehicle and the symptoms you're describing, it's likely the sensor itself. Considering the cost of a new sensor and potential for further issues, it might be best to get it checked out by a workshop.

Appreciate the advice. Ended up just replacing the IAT sensor at a local shop. Cost me 155€, but everything is running smoothly now. Thanks!

Sounds familiar. Have you checked the wiring and connections to the IAT sensor? Sometimes it's just a loose or corroded connector causing the issue.
