Explorer NOx Catalyst Exhaust Leak

Yeah, codes are definitely pointing to NOx catalyst issues and the error memory is full, so pretty sure it is emissions related. Where exactly was the exhaust leaking for you? I am no expert, but I can have a look myself before I bring it in.

For me, it was a crack near one of the joints in the exhaust. Honestly, unless you're super comfortable wrenching, you're better off taking it to a shop. Messing with the exhaust system can get tricky fast. They'll pressure test it and find the leak pronto.

Roger that, I think you are right. I just got it back from the workshop. Turns out it was a leak in the exhaust system, just like you said. The NOx catalyst was getting false readings because of it. Cost me 265€ to get it fixed. Thanks for the heads-up!

I have an Explorer too, not sure what year. I had something similar last year. Check engine light, vague emissions system error... Is it throwing codes related to nitrogen oxides? Exhaust smell might be a leak – that's what messed me up.
