Explorer Steering Angle Sensor Issue

I'm having trouble with my 2023 Ford Explorer Hybrid. With 110538 km, the steering angle sensor seems defective. Steering requires increased effort, almost like the power steering cuts out sometimes, and the steering wheel vibrates/shakes. Could this be a coding issue with the steering angle sensor? Anyone else experienced this?

I own an Explorer too and had similar symptoms not too long ago. The electronic stability control was going crazy, and the steering felt like wrestling an alligator. I suspect your angle sensor might be misreporting, causing havoc. Did you check for error codes with an OBD2 scanner? That could point to the problem.

I did check with an OBD2 scanner and got a lot of error codes pointing to the steering angle sensor. Could you be more specific about your previous statement? I'm still not sure what the exact error is.

My Explorer had nearly identical symptoms: increased steering effort, vibrations, and the stability control acting erratically. In my case, the steering angle sensor was the problem, specifically faulty coding, which I initially missed. I suggest a visit to a qualified workshop for diagnosis and recalibration. My repair cost around 195€, but get quotes beforehand.

Thanks for the insights! I took my Explorer to a trusted workshop, and the steering angle sensor's coding was indeed the cause. After recalibration and a system check, the issue is resolved. The repair cost was close to your estimate. Thanks again for your help!
