Express diesel particulate filter issue
Summary of the thread
The conversation revolves around a 2018 Chevrolet Express diesel experiencing reduced engine power and smoke during acceleration, suspected to be due to a defective diesel particulate filter (DPF). The illuminated engine light and symptoms suggest a DPF issue, potentially causing backpressure in the exhaust system. The recommended solution is to have the DPF checked and possibly replaced at a workshop, which was confirmed and resolved with a filter replacement.

The engine light is indeed illuminated. Fuel economy seems consistent. What are the implications if the diesel particulate filter is defective?

Okay, engine light plus those symptoms pretty much points to a DPF problem. If it's defective, it's causing backpressure in the exhaust system. Honestly, at that mileage, it could just be clogged and need replacing. I would suggest taking it to a workshop, they can check the backpressure and confirm it.

Thank you for the insight. The workshop confirmed a defective diesel particulate filter. The repair, including filter replacement, cost 1550€. I appreciate the assistance.

Hey there! Yeah, that sounds like a DPF issue alright. Those symptoms are pretty common when they start to go bad. How's the engine light looking? Is it on? And have you noticed any change in fuel economy lately?
