Hey, you're welcome! Yes, replacing the diesel particulate filter was unfortunately a necessary evil. It cost me €1125 to repair the component. Sure, it was a lot of money, but since then my BMW has been running like clockwork again. Since the visit to the mechanic, the problem with the Ad-Blue tank has also been fixed, it was probably empty. No further problems have occurred since then. Hope this helps you!

Oh wow, 1125 €... That's a really hefty price! But at least you have peace of mind and your car is running well again. I hope I'm just as lucky with my car. Thanks for your help and the information, that's a bit reassuring! I'll take it to the mechanic and hope it's not as bad as I think.

Hi buddy, your problem sounds very familiar to me. I had something similar with my 3-year-old 2014 BMW 5 Series diesel. The same engine light and the final verdict: DPF regeneration failed. My Ad-Blue tank was also empty. But had to have more done in the garage than just that. It was a serious problem as the entire diesel particulate filter had to be replaced. The mechanic told me that a new filter was the only way to make the car healthy again. Also, don't forget to fill up the Ad-Blue tank or the messages will repeat. I hope this helps you and good luck finding a decent, trustworthy garage.
