Failed Window Switch Fix Leaves Encore Completely Inoperable

Thanks for explaining the reset steps. I had a similar window system problem with my Buick Encore last month. The window motor would not respond after some electrical work. Even after trying the reset procedure multiple times, my windows stayed dead. Turned out the window regulator had failed completely and needed replacement. Just curious, do you remember roughly what you paid for the fix? Also, have you experienced any other electrical issues since then? Trying to figure out if I should expect more problems down the road.

Just wanted to follow up since my last post. After seeing the mechanic again, they diagnosed and fixed the window regulator initialization issue completely. The root cause was indeed related to the battery replacement, but there were also some loose connections in the power window wiring that needed attention. The total repair cost came to 290 for parts and labor, which included fixing all the window controls and ensuring proper connection to the window motor. Since the fix, all windows have been working perfectly with no electrical issues whatsoever. The window switch functions are back to normal, and the error message has disappeared completely. For anyone facing similar problems, its worth noting that while the reset procedure I mentioned before often works, sometimes there can be underlying issues with the car electronics that require professional diagnosis. In my case, the loose wiring was causing the initialization failure, which is why the basic reset steps werent effective on their own.

After trying the suggested reset steps with no luck, I took my Buick back to the shop yesterday. The mechanics found that the window regulator had worn out and some wiring connections needed fixing. The power window system had to be completely recalibrated after they installed the new parts. The full repair cost came to €375 including labor. While it was more than I hoped to spend, at least all window controls are working perfectly now. The error message is gone and each window moves smoothly. The shop even showed me how to do the window reset procedure myself in case I need it in the future. Just glad to have it fixed properly this time. The door panel looks much better too since they took extra care putting everything back together. No other electrical issues have popped up so far. Definitely learned to be more specific about checking all systems after any electrical work gets done.

Had the same window controls issue on my 2017 Buick Envision after a battery replacement. The power window system often needs a reset procedure after the car battery is disconnected. This is a common occurrence, not a serious problem. The window initialization error happens because the car electronics lose their stored settings when power is completely removed. The fix usually takes about 15 minutes. The reset process involves: Starting the engine, Pressing the window switch down until fully open, Holding the switch for 3 seconds, Pulling switch up until window fully closes, Holding for another 3 seconds, Repeating for each window If the reset procedure does not work, there might be an issue with the window control module or wiring that was disturbed during the battery service. The shop should check the connections and verify proper voltage to the window systems. I suggest returning to have them perform the window reset procedure or check for loose connections. This is typically covered under the original repair work since it is directly related to the battery replacement.
