Thanks! Yeah, I just hit 100971 KM on mine and had my last service about 2 months ago. Had it scanned at my 's garage and got error code P0335, which apparently points to the crankshaft sensor. Good to hear you got yours sorted with a similar issue, that price doesn't sound too bad either! Might go ahead and get it checked out at my local mechanic then. Cheers for the help!

Hey again! Yeah that P0335 code is exactly what I got with my Astra too. When you mentioned the mileage, it makes even more sense, mine was around 110,000 KM when this happened. These sensors and their wiring tend to wear out around this mileage on Vauxhalls. Just a heads up from my experience, make sure they check the wiring harness properly, not just the sensor itself. In my case, they initially only replaced the sensor (around 90€), but the problem came back after a week because the wiring was the actual culprit. Had to go back and get the whole harness sorted. That's why my total ended up being 170€. Been about a year now since the repair, and my car's running like a charm, no more unusual stalling or cold start issues. Definitely sounds like you're dealing with the same thing I had. Hope you get it sorted soon! Let us know how it goes, yeah?

Really appreciate the detailed advice! That's super helpful to know about the wiring harness, I'll definitely mention that to my mechanic when I take it in. Would've been proper annoying to have to go back twice like you did. I've booked it in for next Tuesday morning, so hopefully they can sort both the sensor and wiring in one go. I'll probably end up saving money in the long run by fixing it now before it causes any bigger issues. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it's made me feel a lot more confident about what needs doing. I'll update the thread once it's fixed!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2001 Vauxhall Astra Diesel last year (I have some experience working on cars as a hobby). Those symptoms sound exactly like what I experienced. The unusual stalling and hard starts were super annoying! Took it to my local mechanic who diagnosed a faulty crankshaft sensor wiring harness, the connector was corroded and damaged. Total fix cost me around 170€ including parts and labor. Car's been running perfectly since then. Before jumping to conclusions though, what's your engine code and mileage? Also, have you scanned for error codes? This info would help confirm if it's the same issue I had.
