Failing Sensor Causing Multiple Issues in Eclipse Cross?

Thanks for chiming in! My Eclipse Cross has 136499 KM on it, and the last service was actually 3 months ago, just the regular maintenance stuff. The problems started popping up about two weeks ago, starting with the rough idle and then everything else followed pretty quickly. Good to hear it wasn't too expensive to fix in your case. Was your car running noticeably smoother right after they replaced the sensor? I'm planning to take it to the shop next week, just wanted to get some real-world feedback first.

Hey again! Yeah, the difference in my Outlander was like night and day after they replaced the sensor. The rough idle smoothed out almost immediately when I started it up at the shop, and the jerky acceleration was completely gone on my drive home. Fuel economy took about a tank of gas to return to normal though, I guess the ECU needed some time to readjust. Since your mileage and symptoms are really similar to what I experienced (my Outlander had about 128000 KM when it happened), I'm even more convinced it's the same issue. One thing I forgot to mention in my first reply, before taking it to the shop, I noticed the problems were actually worse on cold mornings. Did you notice anything similar? That's usually a pretty good indicator it's the intake temp sensor acting up. Just keep in mind that while the fix was pretty straightforward in my case, it's always good to let the pros do a proper diagnosis. I know we're paying for peace of mind, but it's worth it. Let us know how it goes after your shop visit next week!

Thanks so much for all this detailed info! And yes, actually, now that you mention it, it's definitely worse in the mornings! I hadn't connected those dots before, but the car really struggles for the first 5-10 minutes of my morning commute. Hearing about your experience makes me feel a lot better about this whole situation. I was worried it might be something major, but this sounds totally manageable. I'll definitely update the thread after I get it checked out next week. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it's super helpful knowing what to expect both symptom-wise and cost-wise. Fingers crossed it'll be running as smooth as your Outlander after the fix!

Hey there! Got some experience with this as I had a similar issue with my 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander (and I've worked on several Mitsubishis before, moderate experience level here). Funny enough, I dealt with almost identical symptoms last year. My mechanic diagnosed a faulty intake air temperature sensor, which was causing all those issues you're describing. Cost me about 155€ at my local workshop, including parts and labor. They got it fixed in about an hour. Before jumping to conclusions though, could you share: How many miles/km on your Eclipse Cross? When did these symptoms first appear? Any recent maintenance work done? This would help confirm if we're dealing with the same issue. The symptoms definitely match what I experienced!
