Failure of the parking aid and electrical faults in a 2014 Mercedes CLA Diesel
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Mercedes CLA Diesel is experiencing issues with the parking aid system, general electrical faults, stored error messages, and a warning light on the speedometer. A similar problem in another Mercedes model was resolved by replacing a faulty parking aid control unit, which also affected other systems. The recommended solution is to visit a garage promptly to prevent further complications, as replacing the control unit resolved the issues in the other case.

Hello, thank you for your quick and detailed reply. It's good to hear that everything is back to normal for you. Can you perhaps remember how much it cost you to replace the control unit and whether there were any other problems afterwards? Best regards!

Hello, of course, I still remember the costs. It cost me €355 to replace the control unit. Since I've been to the garage and the parking aid control unit has been repaired, everything has been running smoothly. No further problems or error messages since then. I'm really glad that the parking aid issue has finally been resolved! Best regards!

Hi, thanks for the info! To be honest, I had imagined it would be more expensive, so that's good news. I will now make an appointment at the garage as soon as possible and hope that everything will work perfectly again after the repair on my CLA. Thanks again for your help! Best regards!

I was told that parking sensors no. 4, no. 5 and no. 6 are defective. But now I don't know where they are?

The parking sensors are usually numbered from left to right when you're facing the car from the front. So, sensor no. 4, 5, and 6 should be on the right side of your vehicle. However, the numbering can vary depending on the car model. It's best to refer to your vehicle's manual or consult with a mechanic to be sure.

Hello, I can well understand your frustration. I recently had a similar problem with my 2011 Mercedes C-Class petrol car. The parking aid was going crazy and the warning light was constantly coming on. It turned out that the parking aid control unit was faulty. The whole thing was a serious problem, mainly because the malfunction of the parking aid affected other systems in the car, but it was solvable. The garage had to replace the control unit and delete the errors in the system. I can therefore recommend that you go to the garage as soon as possible so that it doesn't cause even bigger problems. After the control unit was replaced in my case, everything is running smoothly again. Best regards!
