Falcon electric steering column defective

My 2006 Ford Falcon with a gasoline engine is giving me grief. The electric steering column adjustment is completely defective. The dashboard is showing an error, and the steering column won't adjust electrically anymore. I suspect it's a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone else experienced this?

Ugh, electric steering issues are the worst! I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra a few years back. Different brand, I know, but the symptoms sound eerily similar. Was the error message persistent, or did it come and go? And did you notice any clicking sounds when trying to adjust the column?

The error is persistent, unfortunately. It's there every time I start the car. And yes, you're right, I do hear some faint clicking when I try to adjust it, but nothing moves. What was the solution for your Astra? I'm hoping it's not a major repair.

The clicking is a bad sign, sounds like the motor is trying but failing. With my Astra, it ended up being a faulty motor in the steering column adjustment mechanism. Sadly, after checking the fuses and connections myself I had to bite the bullet and take it to a workshop. They replaced the whole unit. I recommend you do the same.

Thanks for the advice! I appreciate you sharing your experience. I took it to my mechanic, and you were spot on. It was indeed a defective cable/plug connection, thankfully! They repaired it for 95€. I'm so relieved it wasn't more expensive. You've been a great help!
