Falcon error messages after battery change

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2001 Ford Falcon (gasoline engine). The car runs fine, but I keep getting error messages popping up. First, it stored an error, then I saw the same message in the infotainment system and speedometer. I ran a diagnostic scanner and got a fault code, but I can't figure out what's causing it. My scanner points to some kind of coding issue. Has anyone else experienced this?

Sounds like a real pain! You mentioned a fault code – can you tell me what the actual code is? Also, when did this start happening? Did it coincide with any recent work you've had done on the car, like replacing the battery or any module replacements? Incorrect coding can definitely throw things off, especially if something was flashed incorrectly, but it's important to rule out other possibilities first.

Thanks for the quick reply! The fault code is B1318 - Battery Voltage Low. The error messages started popping up about a week after I had the car battery replaced. Could the new battery be the reason for incorrect coding? I find it strange that a new battery leads to coding issues.

Okay, B1318 points to low voltage, which is interesting given the new battery. It's possible the battery isn't the correct type or wasn't properly registered to the car's system. In some vehicles, a new battery needs to be 'told' to the car so the charging system knows how to manage it. But the fact it points to incorrect coding AND low voltage, it's more likely that the new battery has triggered something in the car's system. It may need a professional to check if the new battery is OK, and also perform a full system scan and recode any modules that need it. It’s worth getting it checked out before it causes other problems.

Thanks a bunch for the advice! I took it to a local workshop, and you were spot on. Turns out, the battery was fine, but the body control module needed a re-flash because the battery replacement somehow corrupted its coding. They charged me 360€ for the diagnostic and re-coding. Everything seems to be working perfectly now!
