Falcon key battery issue

I'm having a weird issue with my 2014 Ford Falcon with a gasoline engine. The car keeps saying the key battery is low. Now the keyless access doesn't work. I'm also getting an error stored in the car's computer, and unlocking/locking is unreliable. Could it be something more serious than the key battery?

Summary of the thread

A 2014 Ford Falcon owner experienced issues with keyless access and received a low key battery warning. The problem was identified as likely due to a weak or dead key fob battery, causing unreliable locking/unlocking and an error stored in the car's computer. Replacing the key fob battery resolved the issue, restoring normal function, and clearing the error memory at a workshop ensured no further problems.

The symptoms definitely point to a weak or dead key fob battery. The keyless system needs a certain voltage to operate correctly. The error stored in the memory is likely due to the low voltage. Have you tried replacing the battery in the key?

Thanks! No, I haven't replaced the battery yet. I wanted to check online first to see if there could be other reasons. If a low battery is the problem, can I fix it myself, or do I need a workshop?

Replacing the battery in your key fob is usually simple. Check your owner's manual for the correct battery type (most likely a CR2032) and instructions. Given the stored error message, it might be worth having a workshop clear the error memory after replacing the battery to ensure everything is functioning correctly. You could still replace the battery yourself, but if issues persist, professional diagnostics might be necessary.

It was the battery! I replaced it, and everything is back to normal. Keyless entry works, the car locks and unlocks perfectly, and after clearing the error memory (which cost me 37€ at the workshop) the error is gone. Thanks for the help!
